PHYTOSSANITARY CONDITIONS OF HORTICULTURAL IMPORTED SEEDS

The health conditions of horticultural seeds imported to Brazil, during 1977, was detected in thirty seed samples, including fourteen species, that were sampled by the Official Seed Inspector of the Ministry ofAgriculture, in São Paulo State. For Crucifer species the deepfreezing method was used, and for other species, the blotter test method. Results showed samples infected with AIternaria brassicicola (Schw.) Wilts., Alternaria raphani Groves & Skolko, Fusarium monilíforme Sheld., Fusarium semitectum Berk & Rav., Phoma betae Frank., Phoma lingam (Tode ex. Fr.) Desm. and with other pathogenic agents.
