This work is the first contribution to knowledge of the fungal microflora of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seeds in the State of Paraíba. The seeds obtained from different localities were studied by Agar-Method in laboratory for seven days. The fungi from bean seeds were: Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus spp., Fusarium sp., Monilia sp., Mucor sp., Penicillium spp., Rhizopus sp. and Trichotecium roseum. Variations in the number of fungal species and in the porcentage of contamination were observed according to the bean cultivars and localities. The species more common were Fusarium sp., Penicillium spp. and Aspergillus spp.
