EFFECTS OF PLANT SPACING AND FERTILIZERS ON OKRA SEED PRODUCTION
ANTÔNIO CELSO WAGNER ZANIN TOSIAKI KIMOTO
The objective of the present work was to study the effects of fertilization leveLs and plant spacing on some aspects of okra plant performance, grown for seed production. The cultivar "Campinas-1" was used throughout this work. Fertilization increased seed yield per área, for it promoted increases in plant height, in the number of branches, in the number of fruits per area and per plant. As plant spacing was reduced, an increase in seed yield per area was observed, although the number of branches and the number of fruits per plant decreased. The percentage of germination was not influenced by fertilization and plant spacing. The same phenomenum was observed concerning the fïrst count, the speed of emergence and the percentage of emergence.
