SEED PRODUCTI0N AND DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO

In the State of São Paulo, the production of seeds is accomplished through the participation of Agriculture and Supply's Secretary's Office and through registered particular growers (certified seed's growers). The actual work has as its objective to present a stablished program to the seed's production and distribution in the State of São Paulo, so that to attend an annual demand, demonstrating the perfect relationship between the private initiative and the insterests of State's Govemment in the seed's provision as a support to the agriculture's development of this State. To achieve this program, the Agriculture and Supply's Secretary's Office count on its Coordenadoria de Assistência Técnica Integral - CATI, with the Departamento de Sementes e Mudas e Matrizes - DSMM, which is portioned of an infra-estructure composed of a central organ, 20 regional mits and 05 farms of production and preparation of seeds and seedlings, beyond a Seed Central Laboratory and 20 Laboratories located in the units above mentioned. lts technical staff is constituted by 102 Agronomist Engineers and others professionals of university degree, managed by a skilled specialized administration. The program is realized annually considering the obtained elements and informations from lhe statistics of seed's necessity for selling in the Casa da Agricultura and from the production's plans of the certified seed growers, after that the State Plan of Seeds and Seedlings' Production is elaborated, which defines certified seeds production's goals and of commercials and basic seed of Agriculture and Supply's Secretary's Office. The State Plan of Seeds and Seedlings* Production has been elaborated annually since 1.936 possibiliting the full seed supply in the State and providing a quantitative and qualítative evolution of the production and attendance with, this resource.by private initiative or by Secretary's Offïce, reaching the governmental objectives of the agriculture's development through the production's increase and through the agricultural productivity. The obtained results have been amply satisfactory, justifing the basement of the annual program of the seed's production and distribution.
