With the purpose to identify a laboratory test which, adapted to available facilities, would best evaluate resistance or susceptibility to sprouting m triticale lines, several tests were conducted at the Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Trigo (CNPT), in 1979 and 1980. Basically, tests consisted in altemately - and at different intervals ? wetting and drying the spikes. Results showed a distinct behavior of selected lines in relation to each test, and none of these was consistently superior when compared with the others
