COMPARISON OF METHODS FOR OVERCOMING SEED DORMANCY IN ANDROPOGON GRASS

MIRIAN T.S. EIRA

Samples from two seed lots, one 2 months and another 14 months old, of Andropogon grass (Andropogon gayanus Kunth var. bisquamulatus (Hochst.) Hack.) cv. Planaltina were submitted to various treatments aiming to detect the presence of dormancy and to determine which ones were efficient in overcoming it. The treatments capable of breaking dormancy were naked caryopses, prechill, and the KNO3 and GA3 solutions.
