The vegetable seeds market in Brazil is supplied with imports of aproximately 90% of its demand. This is due to the non-utilisation of adequate ecological zones for the production of those species, as well as to the lack of appropriate research. Due to the economic importance of the vegetable seed industry, the sector of surveillance of the trade of seeds and sprouts, through this paper informs all agencies of research, production and commerce, about the volume and costs of all importations of vegetable, aiming to give informations that will contribute to the creation of mesures that will help to save money spent in importations as well as in the development of the internal production of seeds.
