INFLUENCE OF SEED WEIGHT ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND VIGOUR OF COCOA SEEDLINGS

The objective of this research was to study the influence of cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) on seedlings development and vigour. Seeds were separated in three groups with differents weights: light (0,9 to 1,3g), medium (1,4 to 1,8g) and heavy (1,9 to 2,3g). The tests were conducted under nursery conditions, raked, with cocoa seeds of common variety. Heavy cocoa seeds resulted iii more vigorous seedling evaluated by plant height measurements, stalk diameter and dry matter weight plant shoot and roots.
