This paper shows the fungi commonly associated with peanut seeds in Brazil. The most important measures to obtain seed with high vigour and adequate sanitary quality are discussed. The chemical seed treatment is considered as a must. The diagnostic points out the necessity of researches on peanut seed pathology due to the lack of informations in this area in Brazil.
