This paper shows the species of fungi associated with annual cotton seeds in Brazil, poiting out the pathogenic species. Methods for fungi detection in cotton seeds are described and the lack of method for detection of bacteria or for detection of a single pathogen are showed. The author suggests the standardization of method for fungi detection. He also suggest the use of delinted seeds and the use of that with high specific weight besides the chemical seed treatment.
