Syrup sorghum seeds has germination problem affecting the initial stande and consequently the final production. This study was carry out to determine the maturation point and the effect of seed position in the panicle on physiological seed quality. Nineteen days after flowering, syrup sorghum seeds of the BR-501 cultivar were harvested at 7 days intervals in a total of seven harvesting data. All panicles from each harvesting date were divided in three equal portions (apical, intermediate and basal) and submitted to the following tests: moisture content, dry weight and standard germination. The results showed that seeds from apical portion attained the physiological maturity point one week before the intermediate and basal portion, and regarding all the three panicle portion together the best physiological seed quality occcurred around 54 days after flowering.
