THE INFLUENCE OF SEED POSITION IN THE SUBSTRATA AND THE TEMPERATURE OF SEED GERMINATION IN THE PERFORMANCE OF TWO LOTS OF Brachiaria humidicola SEEDS

JOSÉ WALTER PEDROZA CARNEIRO, MAURO ZANINI ROSSETO

An experiment was set to verify the influence of seed positioning in the substratum and temperature of germination in the performance of two seed lots of Brachiaria humidicola (Rendle) Schw. The seeds were positioned on and between sheets of paper. The temperatures of 20-35oC; 20-30oC alternated and 30oC constant were also compared. The seeds from lot 1 were harvested with a drum jointed at a tractor?s bumper, in Uniflor-PR and the seeds from lot 2 were harvested with a combine harvester in Inajá-PR. No influence of the seed positioning in the substratum was found on vigour and germination as evaluated by the first count and germination test, respectively. The best germination on percentage was verified with seeds from lot 1 and alternated temperatures of 20-35oC.
