With the objective of evaluating the effect of physiological damages, fissure percentage and bark wrinklement, damage caused by soybean bugs and others damages, and pathogen incidences on soybean seeds germination, 16 genotypes cultivated in Conquista, Coromandel, Uberlândia, Presidente Olegário and São Gotardo, Minas Gerais State, Brazil were studied. During the ?Blotter test? was observed the percentage of seed germination and the percentage of seed death with and without bacteria. The seeds of genotypes with higher fissure percentage, wrinklement and incident of bark damage díd present smaller germination rate. Seeds produced in Conquista, location with low altitude (658m) and high temperature and humidity, had germination percentage Iower than that produced in the locations of Presidente Olegário (960m), Uberlândia (889m) and Coromandel (820m). The low germination of seeds produced in Conquista was caused by the great percentage of dead seeds, because of the adverse climatic condition during the production period.
