RESEARCH NEEDS RELATED TO SEED PHYSIOLOGICAL QUALITY
FLÁVIO POPINIGIS
The identification of seed quality problems during production, storage, distribution and seeding, its a non-stop activity in a seed program. Its results indicate the actual and the potencial constrains which may impair or interfere in the supply and/or in the quality of seeds applied to farmers. The demand for new technologies and information is progressively greater as the seed program grows. In the area of physiology, research needs are related to aspects of seed maturation, harvesting drying, conditioning, storage and quality control. Specific problems that need research efforts and development of adequate tecnologies, are indicated.
