GERMINATION AND VIGOUR OF Crotalaria Ianceolata E. Mey SEEDS.
ANA APARECIDA DA SILVA,SANDRA MARIA CARMELLO E JOÃO NAKAGAWA
The fruits of Crotalaria lanceolata E. Mey, occur in fructescences and the seed show variation la seed-coat color. The purpose of this study was to verify if the germination, dormancy and vigour of C. lanceolata seeds are influenced by seed-coat color and fruit position in the fructescence. The fruits in the fructescence were separeted in two regions, apical and basal, and the seeds of each region were separeted in the following colors: yellow, red and brown. Than, 1,000 seeds weight were determined and germination and vigour tests were made. Seed-coat color mfluenced 1,000 seeds weight, dormancy and seed vigour. Germination and vigour were greater to red colored seeds, but 1,000 seeds weight and dormancy were greater to yellow colored seeds. The fruit position in the fructescence influenced the germination of red colored seeds and the 1,000 seeds weight of yellow colored seeds.
