RUBENS SADER E MILTON MELO SILVEIRA
This research was carried out in the experimental area of the Agronomy College ? Campus of Jaboticabal ? UNESP, São Paulo State, Brazil, during the 1986 agricultural year. The objective was to study the maturation process of sunflower seeds cv. IAC-ANHANDY. It was used a completeley randomized design, being done weekly seed harvesting starting in the flowering period up to the complete sunflower seed maturation in a total of 12 samplings. The seed quality was determined through germination test, seed dimensions (lenght, width and, thickness, moisture content, dry matter seed weight, and, vigor tests (first germination count, seedling dry weight matter, speed of emergence index and, accelerated aging). According to the obtained results was verified that the highest germination percentage, seed and, seedling dry weight matter was get in the 69 day after anthesis, whereas the maximum germination in the first count, speed of emergence index, and, the germination (accelerated aging test) were observed in the 83 day after blooming. Based on these data was concluded that the physiological maturity of sunflower seeds cv. IAC-ANHANDY was obtained at 69 days after anthesis and, 125 days after seeding.
