THE TEACHING OF SEED TECNOLQGY IN BRASIL

Seed Tecnology is growing in Brasil, because the majority of ours cultures is multiplicated by seeds. Today classes of Seed Tecnology are given in quite of all ours Agronorny high schools. Because of that, many teachers are looking for pos-graduate courses to improve theirs knowledge about Seed Tecnology. There is no reference yet about how much teachers are working with Seed Tecnology, who they are, where they are, theyr qualifiying, disponibility of laboratories and literature, the program used in the classes, etc. This work had the objective to get data to clear the major part of this doubts. The data were obtained by a standard-questionnare that was sended to all of Agronomy high school whose adress could be obtained. The analysis of the data led to the following conclusions: The teaching of Seed Tecnology in Brasil is concentrated in the South and South East Regions;There are 1,4 teacher for each school of avereage to the classes of Seed Technology; Seed Tecnology is teaching in 94,4% of Agronomy high school in Brasil; There are 50 teachers diretaly relationed with Seed Tecnology, and 90,7% of them working in a full time in the school; The programs of the classes are very similar; From the total of the teachers 88% are assistents and adjunts; From the 50 teachers diretaly relationed with Seed Tecnology, 52% teach in the same school were they learned; From the schools, 83,3% has seed laboratoty, but there are a few equipments about dring, storage and processing; The books are not atualized or they have not enough printing.
