OSMAR P. BECKERT, LEOPOLDO BAUDET E DIANA L. IRIGON
- This research studied the performance of two quality levels of black bean seeds cultivar EMPASC-201, packaged into woven polypropylene compared with jute and multiwall kraft paper and stored for six months under environmental conditions of the Planalto Norte of Santa Catarina State. Seeds were analyzed each 30 days by moisture content, germination percentage, accelerated aging and seedling vigor. At the end of the experiment, a field emergence test was conducted for alI treatments. Results showed that Planalto Norte of Santa Catarina State has been appropriated for bean seed storage in impermeable sacks under environmental conditions of conventional storage for six months. Low quality beans may further reduce seed quality after 120 days of open storage. Bean seeds stored in permeable sacks in open storage may take as long as 120 days to reach equilibrium moisture content.
