The purpose of the present work was to study the effects of phosphatic fertilizers and the application methods on the pods yield and on some pods and seeds characteristics. One experiment was carried out under field conditions in the summer season, at Júlio Mesquita Municipality located in central region of São Paulo State. Five phosphatic fertilizers were tested superphosphate, hyperphosphate, termophosphate (yoorin), thermophosphate with partially water soluble phosphorus (yookarin) and partially acidulated phosphate, more one control treatment with limestone; alI of these fertilizers were applied in planting furrows or in total area and incorporated. The potassium was applied in all treatments, in a dose of 30kg/ha of K2O; liming intended to increase the V% up to 70%, and was used only in the control; the phosphatic fertilizers were employed in dose of 100kg/ha of P2O5. The pods yield was not affected by the phosphatic fertilizers nor by the application methods. The phosphatic fertilizers presented low effects on pods and seeds characteristics but these were very influenced by application methods. The highest size, germination and vigour of seeds were obtained by the application method in total area.
