PRE-GERMINATIVE SEED TREATMENTS FOR AMAZONIAN FOREST SPECIES: IV. FAVEIRA CAMUZÉ - Stryphnodendron pulcherrium (WILLD.) HOCHR - LEGUMI NOSAE

The objetive of this research was evaluate the efficience of pre-germinative treatments in dormant seeds of faveira camuzé - Stryphnodendron pulcherrimum (Willd.) Hocher. The foIlowing pre-germinative treatments were utilized: manual scarification and immersion in water at environmental temperature during 12 and 24 hours; immersion in sulfuric acid (96%) during 2 and 5 minutes, and immersion in water at 90°C during 5, 10 and 15 minutes. The experiment was carried out in Jacobsen germinator at 30°C. Were observed better results of the germination and speed emergence in seeds treated with sulfuric acid for 2, 5 minutes and manual scarification after the immersion in water during 6 hours. Lethal effects were observed in treated seeds with water at 90°C during 5, 10 e 15 minutes.
