The objectives of this study were to determine losses during the conditioning operations and to evaluate the quality of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seed, cultivar Rio Tabagi after conditioning through an air-screen cleaner and a gravity table. Treatments consisted on bean seed conditioned through and air-screen cleaner only, a gravity table only, and a sequence air-screen cleaner - gravity table. Losses in porcentage were determined by the material discarted from each machine after conditioning. Seed quality evaluated by the following paramenters: physical purity, 1000 - seed weight, seed infestation examination, seed coat damage, germination, vigor (first count of germination, accelerated aging test, speed of emergence index, final stand and seedling dry weight) and seed health (blotter test). The results indicated the following conclusions: a) losses after conditioning through an air-screen cleaner or a gravity table were similar and went not exceed 7%; while sequency of both machines produced a total loss of 11%; b) conditioning only through an air-screen cleaner went not improve significantly physiological and health quality of the bean seed; c) bean seeds discarted from high side of discharge edge of the gravity table presented physical, physiological and health quality significantly higher than the seeds obtained from the middle and low side.
