ANA D.L.C. NOVEMBRE E JÚLIO MARCOS FILHO
Fungicide treatment and storage of bean seeds. This research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the effects of the application of the fungicides Thiram, Methyl Tiophanate, Captan, Benomyl and the mixture Thiram + Benomyl on different bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seed Iots, before storage and at the planting dates of raining and dry seasons. The experiments were set at the Seed Technology and the Seed Pathology laboratories of the ?Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz?, University of São Paulo, in Piracicaba, state of São Paulo, Brazil. The seeds of the Rio Vermelho bean cultivar were stored under natural condition from july/1983 to february/1984 and, every two months during storage, evaluated by means of germination, vigor (accelerated ageing), moisture content, seedling emergence and seed health tests. Results showed that fungicide treatment before storage time was most advantageous for lower quality bean seeds stored during seven months.
