WARLEY MARCOS NASCIMENTO

An experiment was conducted at the Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Hortaliças - CNPH/EMBRAPA, Brasília, DF, in 1986, in order to study the effects of umbel order on production and quality of carrot seeds, cultivar Brasília. Umbels of different orders were harvested separetely from a seed production field, and after threshing, their seeds were weighed and tested for standart germination, vigour and 1.000 seed - weight. The average umbelas/plant was one primary, eleven secondary and twenty four tertiary of which contributed with 11,0%, 58,0% and 31,0% respectively to the total yield. Seeds from primary umbels gave better quality than secondary umbels and these better than tertiary umbel seeds.
