PERFORMANCE OF STEVIA SEED CONTACT ON THE SUBSTRATUM, ACCORDING TO WEIBULL FUNCTION

JOSÉ WALTER PEDROZA CARNEIRO E TEREZINHA APARECIDA GUEDES

This experiment was carried out to evaluate the performance of stevia seeds according to the position on the substratum. The treatments were like the following: A - Debearded seeds laid down on the substratum (Germitest paper); B - Seeds with the beards and one point touching the substratum; C - Seeds with only the beards touching the substratum. The temperature in the seed germinator was 25°C. The results were analysed according to repeated measures analysis of Variance and the Weibull function was fitted to the cumulative data. The seeds from Treatment A had 84.50% of germination against 61.68% from C and needed 3.87 and 5.91 days to achieve 63.21% of maximum seed germination, respectively, while seeds from B had 76.85% and needed 4.43 days to achieve 63.21% of this maximum.
