The objective of this work was to evaluate the seed quality of eggplant cultivar ?Roxa comprida? produced by fruits situated in the lowest, medium and upper third part of the plant at 50, 60 and 70 days after anthesis. To identify the fruits age, the open flowers were Iabelled at intervals of three days, starting from 80 days after the begining of transplantation and finishing 160 days later. For evaluating the physiological and physical seed quality, humidity tests, dry weight of seeds, germination and vigor (first counting of the germination test) were made. With the results obtained, it is possible to concluded that the eggplant physiological seed quality varies with the position of the fruits in the plant. Seeds from fruits of the lowest and medium third, showed greater dry weight and better seed physiological quality than those from the upper third part. Seeds from fruits harvested 50, 60 and 70 days after anthesis, in the lowest third part of the plant do not have any diferences considering the seed dry weight and physiological quality. Seeds from the upper third part of the plant must not be used as seeds.
