This research was undertaken to study the interaction among age, storage and color of pericarp over the incidence of hardseededness in Stylosanthes capitata. Seeds were harvested from inflorescences with age varying between 4 and 13 weeks after the anthesis of first flower and classified according to color of pericarp (green, pale brown or brown). Some seeds were immediately submited to the germination test and the remaining stored for six months and then submited to the same test. The hardseededness varied with the stage of maturation and was significantly affected by color of pericarp. Nevertheless, the proportion of hardseeds was not affected hy storage.
