GERMINATION OF Ochroma pyramidale (CAV.) URB. SEEDS

The germination test was carried out at 20°, 25°, 30°, 20°-30° e 25°-35°C on standard blotter, sand and vermiculite substrates. The best results (18%) were obtained at 25°-35°C on standard blotter, but dormant seeds were detected. To overcome seed dormancy, manual scarifying, immersion in hidrogen peroxide and boiling water were tested. The best seed treatment was in boiling water during for 4 minutes achiving 75% of germination.
