ln order to evaluate the effect of differents periods of contact of phosphate fertilizers with Brachiaria decumbens and Brachiaria brizantha seeds on germination them, was carried out one experiment in completely randomized design with three replications arranged as factorial 6x6, in Seed, Testing Laboratory of EPAMIG, Patos de Minas-MG. Seeds samples of both species with 100% purity were fractioned in seven subsamples which were mistured with the fertilizers Araxá natural phosphate (FNA), simple superphosphate Arafértil (SSA), triple superphosphate Arafértil (STA), parcial acidulated phosphate (FAPS), parcial acidulated natural phosphate (FOSNAP), simple superphosphate Fertibrás (SSF), in the rate of 25 grams per gram of seeds, and one chech whithout fertilizer. After maintenance of the subsamples in plastic bags under ambient conditions of laboratory by 6, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 hours, seeds were washed in common water, superficially dryed in Germitest papel and submitted to germination test. The results showed harmful effects on seeds germination of both the species immediately after the mixture realization them with the fertilizers, except the simple superphosphate Fertibrás that only for B. brizantha reduced the germination after 29 hours of contact, and Araxá natural phosphate that did not affected the seed germination in any period of contact.
