BIOCHEMICAL IDENTIFICATION OF SOYBEAN CULTIVARS USING POLYACRYLAMIDE GEL ELECTROPHORESIS (SDS-PAGE)

The objective of this research was to identifv soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill) cultivars according to the electrophoretic profile of proteins present in the seed. Basic seeds of 42 cultivars were obtained from the National Soybean Research Center (EMBRAPA-CNPSo, Londrina, Paraná). The total protein analysis was performed in a sample of each cultivar containing 200 seeds, which were submitted to polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis system. The comparative analyses between the electrophoretic profiles of total seed proteins allowed the caracterization and the identification of soybean cultivars.
