This research was carried out to study the influence of three sowing times and five cultivars on the yield and seed quality of dry beans. A randomized block design, with treatments in a 3 x 5 factorial arrangement of three sowing times: wet season (september to november); dry season (february to april) and, winter (may to july); and five cultivars: Aeté-3, Carioca, IAC-Carioca, Catú e IAPAR-8, were used for statistical analysis of data. Yield was measured in kg/ha and seed quality was evaluated by the germination test, 100 seed weight, first count, seedling dry matter weight, accelerated aging, field emergence, spotted and defective seeds and fungi incidence by the blotter test. The highest yield was achived in the dry season, followed by the wet season and winter period for all cultivars. However, the seeds harvested in the winter had a higher physiological and sanitary quality than the others harvested in the dry and wet periods, respectively.
