This work as done at the Forestry Department at Federal University of Viçosa. The objective was to evaluate the germination of Esenbeckia leiocarpa (guarantã) seeds, submitted to priming with poliethylene glicol (PEG 6000) at osmotic potentiais of 0,0; -0,2; -0,4; and -0,6 MPa, followed by air dry or not for three time periods (0, 15 and 30 days) and two temperatures (5 and 20°C). According to the results it was concluded that the germination percentage and the moisture content decreased as the osmotic potential increased. To obtain the maximum percentage of germination of guarantã seeds, after the priming, the seeds should be used immediately or storaged at maximum of 15 days, at 5°C. The best seed conservation could be obtained with seed stored at 5°C, if they are preceed by priming and are air dryied.
