This research was developed under laboratory conditions at the Lavras College of Agriculture (Escola superior de Agricultura de Lavras - ESAL) Iocated at Lavras country, state of Minas Gerais, South East Brazil. The objective was to evaluate de effect of seed processing on the physical, physiological, and sanitary quality of rice seeds collected in different machinery which participates in the process as well as to provide seed producers with information in order to allow the choice of the correct and efficient equipment for seed reparation. Rice seed samples of the cultivar Inca, were collected after passage through air pre-cleaning and sience machinery and at the four discharg ducts of the growty table (ducts 1, 2, 3, and 4) as weIl as at the function of the two upper ducts (ducts 1+2). The seed assesments were performed at two different periods: 1) soon after the processing operations (time 1); and 2) six months later (time 2). The following characteristics were evaluated: moisture content, physical purity, hectolitric weight, stand germination, first counet, seedling emergence, speed germination index, mechanical damage, and health conditions (seed pathology assay). The was no effect of the processing on seed health, but physical and physiological qualities were significantly affected by the processing. Better results were obtained with the heavier seed, collected at the ducts 1 and 2 of the growty table.
