Jacaranda acutifolia SEED CONSERVATION

Jacaranda acutifolia Humb. & Bonpl. is a species of Bignoniaceae famiiy that is used as ornamental plant. With the objective of studying storage behaviour, the seeds were submitted to drying treatments at a 15% RH chamber and or storage under remperatures of +5°C and -20°C for 72 hours, followed by germination test and moisture content determination. After that the seeds were stored in hermetic hags under normal laboratory conditions and in chambers of +5°C and -20°C for 24 months. The results showed that the seeds can be classified as orthodox and long term stored in genebanks.
