STUDY OF VARIATIONS IN ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY USING A ASAC-1000 EQUIPMENT

NORTON VICTOR SAMPAIO, TANIRA GIMENEZ-SAMPAIO E JOSÉ MARIA DURAN

The quality seed avaliation by the Electrical Current lntensity of imbibition exudates with an Automatic Seeds Analyser mod. ASAC-1000, is a technic that permits predict the viability and/or vigour of seeds by a practical, rapid and secure form, if considered all the factors that may intervene in the readings. In this work assays were conducted to verify the influency of different sources of variation such as how the washing of the phytosanitary products seed incorporated. the quantity and uniformity cell volume, the concentration of the ionic solution, the work voltage and imbibition time necessary to the ICE correct reading. Results indicated: a) The fungicid?s interference in the corn (Zea mays L.) seeds ICE reading can be eliminate by a washing period of 12 minutes; b) the volume of the necessary liquid in the imbibition cells for the ICE reading to the exudates seeds vary between 0.5 and 3.5ml; c) for the correct ICE reading, the fulfill uniformity with liquid between the imbibition cells is more important the volume than deposited in the same cells; d) an increase in the cell imbibition liquid volume accompained by the diminution of the concentration of the ionic solution do not interfere significantly in the ICE lecture, and e) for the ICE lecture of the pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) seeds exudates can be recomended an 8 hours imbibition period and a work voltage of 0,5V.
