EFFECT OF NITROGEN FERTILIZATION (AT PANICLE EMERGENCE) ON YIELD AND SEED QUALITY OF Avena strigosa Schreber
JOÃO NAKAGAWA, CLÁUDIO CAVARIANI E JOSÉ RICARDO MACHADO
The objective of this work was to study the effects of six dosis of N (0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50kg/ha), applied at panicle emergence stage on yield and seed quality of Avena strigosa Schreber cv. Comum. The experiment was carried out under field conditions on a Ultisol (distrophic Terra Roxa Estruturada) in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. Field was sown on 05/06/92 and harvested 10/27/92. AlI plots received 2,5ton/ha of lime, and basal fertilization of 20kg/ha of N, 70kg/ha of P2O5 and 40kg/ha K2O. Plants characteristics, yield components, dry matter production (kg/ha), seed yield (kg/ha), seed protein content and seed quality were evaluated at harvest. The plant height, the percentage of bearing tillers, the dry matter weight of aerial part without seed (kg/ha) and 1000 seeds weight were benefited by nitrogen application at panicle emergence stage. The yield and the seed quality were not affected by the nitrogen top dressed at this stage.
