This research was carried out with the objective to evaluate the effect of dry bean and soybean genotypes on the EC results. Twenty dry bean (1990/91 and 1991/92) and four soybean (1993/94) genotypes with nine seed Iots each one were studied. It was determined moisture content (105±3°C, 24 hours), standard germination (four 50-seed samples, rolled paper towel, 25°C), vigor - accelerate aging (gerbox - dry bean: 72 hours, 42°C; soybean: 48 hours, 42°C) and vigor - electrical conductivity four 50 seed selected, 75ml of deionized water, 25°C, 24 hours). There were differences on EC among dry bean genotypes, confirming the hypothesis that the genotype could influence the EC results. For soybean genotypes this effect was not so clear since the genotype effect appears to be masked as physiological seed quality decreases.
