An experiment was conducted at the University of Santa Maria, RS, in 1995 aiming to
determine the effects of zinc sources and doses on germination and vigor of irrigated rice seeds, using the
variety BR-IRGA 410. The treatments were four zinc sources (no Zn, ZnSO4, ZnCl2 and ZnO) and five
doses (zero; 0,33; 0,67; 1,00 and 1,67g of Zn.kg-1 of seeds), forming a 4x5 experiment in a completely
randomized design. Evaluations were carried out on seeds and seedlings using the germination test and two
vigor tests (size and seedlings dry weight). The zinc sources ZnSO4 and ZnCl2 did not affect seed germination.
ZnO, in the form of granules, reduzed seedling vigor. The most efficient dose was 0,67g of Zn.kg-1 of
seeds.
