The present work aimed to evaluate the vigour of soybean seeds var. UFV-10 (Uberaba)
stored with 6,8%, 8,6% and 11,2% of initial moisture in transparent polyethylene packages (50cm x 70cm
x 0,25cm), three sheet multiwall paper, cotton, woven polypropylene and jute during 16 months. Every
four months storage, were made evaluations of seed vigour by the tests of first count, accelerated
ageing and speed emergence index. The seeds packed with 6,8% and 8,6% of moisture in the polyethylene
package presented best vigour than those in the other packages. Nevertheless, this package was
extremely damaging to the seeds with 11,2% of initial moisture, causing drastic reduction of the vigour
during the storage. No distinct effect of the multiwall paper packages, cotton, woven polypropylene
and jute on seed vigour was characterized.
