This study intend to verify alterations in amino acid concentration, reducing sugars, and alterations in lipid peroxidation during rubber tree seed storage and stablish the possible relationship between the alteration observed and lost of viability. To do this, seeds collected in March 1996, were conditioned in closed polyethylene bags and stored at a temperatures of 5° C and 20° C, and samples were analyzed before storage and every 15 days until total loss of viability. The results revealed the occurrence of lipid peroxidation in both storage conditions, having a greatest effect from 45 days on. The amino acids concentration increased during 45 days of storage, at 5° C, and then they diminished. The seeds which were stored at 20°C changed slightly in amino acids concentration, diminishing in the final period of storage. The results also demonstrated the decrease
of reducing sugars for both conditions of storage.
