The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of the physiologic conditioning of seeds in the germination, in the field emergence and in the yield of sugar beet. Sugar beet seeds, cv. Top Tall Early Wonder, were submitted to the conditioning in distilled water for zero, 24 and 48 hours under constant temperature of 20oC, after the wash of the same ones as in the absence of this prepare. Later on, the seeds were submitted or not to drying for 24 hours at room temperature. The evaluations were accomplished in laboratory and in experimental field. The wash of the seeds, submitted or not to the conditioning, improved the germination and the germination speed evaluated in the laboratory and in field. The conditioning for 24 and 48 hours improve the germination and the germination speed of seeds washed or not. Highest sugar beet yield was obtained of seeds washed and conditioned.
