The fruit plant ambarella is a tropical fruit originated from Polinezia and cultivaded in brasilian northeastern backyards for its tasteful fruits. This work was undertaken in order to study the morphological aspects of the fruit endocarp. This trial five samples from different locations: 200 endocarps collected from a market sale in Fortaleza, State of Ceará, 200 endocarps collected from market sale in Natal, State of Rio Grande do Norte; 50 endocarps collected from a plant Maracanau, State of Ceará; 50 endocarps collected from a plant Ubajara, in the same State and 500 endocarps a bulk of all samples. The fruits were collected riped and by steel brush and drid at shade. Each endocarp was weighed and opeined in order to count the number of locules in the seed. Confident interval estimations of the data were dow from random samples submited to t test significance 5% level. The number of locules and seed per endocarp varied from three to seven and zero to six, respectively. The apeatest frequencies were five locules (92,2%) and three seeds (30,2%) per endocarp. The variation of endocarp without seed was from 2,5 to 4,0% and with more them one seed was from 88,0 to 92,5%. These are important characteristic to manutence of a sexual propagating species.
