With the objective of identifying the most favourable substrate and temperature for teosinte seeds germination, it was tested three different types of substrates: paper, cloth and sand at the temperatures of 20 and 30°C constants and 20-30°C and 25-30°C alternates. After pre-drying for overcoming possible dormancy, seeds were submmitted to standard germination tests whith daily countings since the third to the tenth day after planting. The results obtainned led to the following conclusions: the paper towel showed the best performance and practicity; final count of standard germination was feasible at the seventh day and 30°C of temperature and then comes the temperature alternate of 20-30°C as the second option; 20°C was not favourable for teosinte seeds germination.
