Storage methods were studied on cedro (Cedrela fissilis Vell.) seeds in order to preservation of the physiological quality. In the trial, the seeds, were harvested in three dates, then evaluated right after harvest and after six and twelve months of storage in cold room, dry room and room conditions, in order to determine their effect on physiological quality. Evaluation was made by determination of seed moisture, dry weight, germination and electric conductivity of the seeds, and emergence velocity test and seedlings dry weight. It was concluded that: the conservation of cedro seeds in cold room conditions is suitable for storage up to 12 months if maintained in hermetic storage, with 10% of moisture; cedro seeds with 10% of moisture, kept within the fruits in cotton bags and stored at room conditions in Pelotas, RS, Brazil, maintained its physiological quality up to six months. The dry room was not suitable to storage of cedro seeds even for a period as short as six months. Cedro seeds obtained of close fruits harvested at 32 weeks after anthesis showed better performance during the storage.
