Studies about the performance of hormones in the mechanism of sees germination have been developed in the last years, emphasizing the importance of the gibberellin in cereal seed, as barley and weat. In corn seeds, it is not well known the control and acction os gibberellins about the germination process. This study on submiting corn seeds to imbibition in water, chlormequat solution of 500, 1000 and 1500 mg/l and uniconazole of 400, 800 and 1200 mg/l, wich acts as innibitor ofgibbrellin synthesis. This research evaluated the effects os these products on sead germination and development os seedlings. Results showed that chlormequat was efficient on inibition os seef germination, while uniconazole showed this effect on seedlings development.
