SORAIA M.L. NASSIF E SÔNIA C.J.G. DE A. PEREZ
The aim of this research was to determine the minimal, optimal and maximal temperatures on seed germination of Pterogyne nitens, by assessing germination percentage, speed and informational entropy. The experiments were carried out with four simultaneous replicates of 50 seeds previously scarified with sulfuric acid during five minutes and the date were submitted to variance analysis and Tukey?s test (5%). The seeds germinate in a temperature range presenting minimal values between 12oC and 15oC, optimal between 18oC and 30oC and maximal between 39oC and 42oC. Germination rate was temperature dependent, highest values of speed germination occurring between 24oC and 30oC. below and above this range germination speed had a significant reduction. The lowest values of informational entropy occurred between 18oC and 30oC, showing a higher synchronization of germination process in this temperatures.
