The kapok (Ceiba pentandra (Linn.) Gaertn.) it is a forest species in extinction danger, due to use of its wood mainly in the laminate industries. The present study objectified to determine for the kapok seeds the best temperature strip for germination. The study was driven in the Laboratory of Analyses of Seeds of Faculdade de Engenharia de Ilha Solteira - FEIS/UNESP. The kapok seeds originating from of Tefé, Itapiranga, Lábrea, municipal district of the State of Amazonas, they were collected, separate from the feather and stored by 18 months. The experiment was installed in germination camera, combining four constant temperatures (20, 25, 30 and 35ºC) and six alternate temperatures (20-25, 20-30, 20-35, 25-30, 25-35 and 30-35ºC), being used paper roll, being driven until that not more if it verified seeds in germination conditions. The experimental design was used randomized entirely, arranged in outline factorial 10x3, with four repetitions, of 50 seeds each. There were significant differences among the temperatures, among origins and in the interaction temperature x origin, in the germination of the seeds. In the 6th day after the semeadura, the germination porcentual to 25ºC it was of 1.5; 53 and 48.5%, respectively for Tefé, Itapiranga and Lábrea. To 35, 25-35 and 30-35ºC the germination didn?t surpass 50%. In the temperature of 25ºC, in the 10th day was verified 58.5% of germination, while at 30-35ºC, in the 9th day it reached 55%. In the temperatures of 20, 20-25 and 20-35ºC the germination didn?t surpass 5.5%, with the count of normal seedlings begun respectively in the 18th, 13th and 10th days after the seeded. It was ended that the process germinativo of the kapok seeds is inhibited to the temperatures of 20, 20-25 and 20-35ºC. The germination of the seeds it was accelerated 25, 35 and 30-35ºC, however, the great temperature so that it happens the maximum of germination and the best index of germination speed it was 25ºC for seeds originating from of Itapiranga and Lábrea and the 35ºC from Tefé.
