The present paper had the purpose of studing the effect of the presoaking of the seeds in contact with substratum humidified with giberellic acid and friction of seeds with sandpaper in the germination of sweet-passion. In the experiment I, the samples were prepared through the fermentation of the wrappings of the seeds with and without aril. After the preparetion, the seeds were submitted to the presoaking in contact with substratum humidified with solution of zero, 150 and 300mg/l of giberellic acid, for five days, at 25ºC and evaluated by the germination test with substratum humidified with distilled water. In the experiment II, the samples were prepared with absence of the fermentation of the wrappings of the seeds with aril; fermentation of the wrappings of the seeds without aril, for four days; fermentation of the wrappings of the seeds with aril, for four days and absence of the fermentation of the wrappings of the seeds without aril. After the preparetion, the seeds were submitted to the friccion with sandpaper and submitted to the germination tests using substratum humidified with solutions of zero, and 300mg/l of giberellic acid. The seeds without aril presented larger germination and faster germination speed.
