GERMINATION AND VIGOR OF PASSION FRUIT (Passiflora edulis Sims. f. flavicarpa Deg.) SEEDS SUBMITTED TO DIFFERENT GELATINE REMOVAL METHODS

KAYO JULIO CESAR PEREIRA E DENISE CUNHA FERNANDES S. DIAS

Seeds extracted from reep passion fruit were submitted to different technics to gelatine removal: abrasion with lime, manual friction in sieve, imersion in HCl diluted at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:6 for one and two hours, and natural fermentation for five days. To verify the effect of the germination treatments, first germination count, accelerated aging and electrical conductivity tests were performed. The seeds submitted to HCl 1:2 treatment for one hour, abrasion with lime, manual friction in sieve and fermentation showed the best results of germination. The The treatmens with HCl dilute at 1:4 and 1:6, and two hours exposition periods were not efficient and reduced the physiological quality of the seeds.
