The use of seeds of high physiological and seed health quality in seeding is fundamental for the establishment of a crop with appropriate and healthy population of seedling and free of disease seed transmission passible, what can influence in the increase of the productivity. This work objetified to evalute the physiological and seed health qualities of soybean seeds from cultivars and lines cycle semi-late/late. Those seed was produced in the agricultural year of 1997/ 98, in the intermediary assays of soybean lines behavior evaluation of the Federal University of Viçosa Soybean Breeding Programme, which were carried out at the municipalities of Capinópolis, Rio Paranaíba and Florestal, in the State of Minas Gerais. The randomized utilized complete block design with three replications. Seed physiological quality was evaluated though tests of germination, accelerated ageing and seedling emergence in sand, for seed health quality it was used the blotter test. The seeds which showed higher fungi contamination presented lower viability and vigor. To majority genotypes, seeds produced in Rio Paranaíba showed better quality than those produced in Florestal and Capinópolis. Seeds produced in Capinópolis presented lower germination percentage and higher fungi incidence. The lineages UFV 96-570816, UFV 96-570818 and UFV 96-570835, stood out for theirs seeds produced the three studied places in testes of
germination and seedling emergence in sand presented emergence and germination percentage
above 80.
