This experiment was carried out to verify the statistical performance of
curvilinear models named cubic, Y = a + b 0,5 + c + d 1,5, and sixth degree,
Y = a + b + c 2,5+ d 3 + e both with a square root base and the nonlinear models
Y i= M + b(1-e(-(kt))) + ei and Yi= M + b(1-e(-(kt) )) + ei
describing the embibition of carrots seeds.
The germination paper were wetted either with destiled and deionized water or with -1MPa solution
of PEG 6000 used as the substrata. The curvilinear model of sixth degree with square root base
can be used as an alternative for the combination between the mass of seed water and the model.
The results suggested the need of an alternative parametrization to increase the statistical quality
of the nonlinear parameters.
